Freedom to Grow: Celebrating Independence Through Wellness

A Message from the Owner - July 2024

Greetings friends!

Wow, it's already July 4th week! A week and day our nation celebrates our independence from Great Britain!

Can you imagine what it was like to celebrate this immense victory? Independence to create, cultivate, and grow into a new country with expansive hope for the future including freedom to live our best life!

Just like any new experience, our country went through many trials and tribulations! Our new nation had so much to grow into. But the people never gave up and kept persevering. Was it perfect? Absolutely not. But this email isn't about what our country didn’t do but rather about the continuous practice of becoming better.

As a small business owner, living in the US has given me many opportunities to become better—not just because I was a born citizen, but because I believed in contributing to my family and community. “Don’t ask what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” - JFK. I treasure this quote. Contribution first starts in our hearts, then our homes, and then in our communities. From there, it spreads effortlessly to our neighboring counties!

My contribution has always been in health and wellness. It started when I received massage therapy for back pain and then taught self-care at home, inspired by my parents' emphasis on health. After becoming a licensed LMT, I contributed to my community with free chair massages at special events, educating those I touched on the importance of self-care. Three massage centers and two yoga studios later, I continue to share my passion!

That is why I am thrilled to share that my family and I are expanding Bear River Massage this year! We are adding 1500 sq ft to offer more health and wellness services such as Natural and Holistic Body Treatments, Facials with clean ingredients, a Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Room, a Salt Therapy Room, and my other love, Yoga!

But wait… there's more! Part of our expansion will include hiring people living with Autism and special needs. My son, who is on the spectrum, and some good friends with special needs have inspired me to offer more diversity and inclusion at our wellness spa—your wellness spa!

I am no stranger to hiring those with special gifts. Some may remember a great employee named Allister who worked at my first yoga studio. He was a great help, spending hours sanitizing mats, blocks, and props for our yoga community (pre-Covid), and was employed for approximately three years. He called out only once and was always on time!

Discovering one’s strengths and putting them to use is how I like to manage my team! After all, who wants to do a job they don’t like? We all have gifts, and discovering others' gifts is one of mine! So, as we expand our location, we are also expanding our talented team.

But wait, there is more great news! As part of my “Go-giver” mentality (vs go-getter), we will be offering donation-based yoga classes! Yoga movement and meditation are such a huge part of a healthy lifestyle, and it is something that needs to be shared and give us the courage to live more independently aligned with our gifts!

I also believe that our independence goes hand in hand with living at our highest selves and helping others do the same. By offering tools to the individual to work through mind chatter (that often becomes anxiety, depression, and stress), we can truly create a healthier person, home, and community. Do you agree?

My vision and mission as a small business, are not to compete with the Massage Envys or Red Door Spas, but to be the change I wish to see! This Independence Day, I encourage you to take care of your mental and physical health.

This is how we can become more independent of the systems that no longer serve us while creating a new, inspiring system of self-awareness and care! Are you with me?!

As for me, I will continue the practice of becoming the best version of myself so that I can better serve you.

Thank you for reading and your support!

Big Bear Hug, Linda Osorio, LMT/RYT, Owner

PS: Here is your affirmation of the month...

"I embrace my journey of self-discovery and growth, knowing that true freedom begins within."
